Free parking, short boat ride to island, long walk from dock to beach, history kiosks along walkway, pavillion with bathrooms and food stand (burgers, dogs, soda, water and such) at beach, narrow and stoney beach, not crowded.
Lots of shells and smells of dead fish in spots, but overall awesome place free ferry and golf cart ride to beach. Great playground for kids as well. Showers bathrooms and snack bar. Great spot. I would go back for sure.
The place has a lot of potential to attract more visitors. However, the beach the sand and water will not be the main attraction no matter how much money the city pour into it. The beach quality is just not there. The pavilion was empty, not even open. I would go there for walks, long walks if there was a trek around the island but it seemed there wasn't any. There were quite a few towers with birds nesting there, and that was really cool. It seemed there were Piping Plovers all around (at least the signs said that). Lots of shells, lots of nature and fresh breeze. Would recommend it for sure.
It's like having your own island. Very quiet and relaxing. Plenty of room for yourself and families. They even have concession stands. Hot showers to bath after a day of swimming in the ocean.
A beach that is almost empty .. on a Sunday .. yes please! .. Federal funding has currently made this beach, parking, water taxi, and tram rides all free!
